Very Berry Smoothie
This is not a piece about fresh vs. frozen fruit or vegetables. It all comes down to what you can afford or what is “in season”. In the dead of winter a pint of berries can be hard to track down and can go as high as $7 per pint in the Northeast. Lets not even discuss the cost of organic berries in the wintertime. That can put some of us in the poor house! Anyways, with the efficiency of flash freezing and proper handling of food…getting frozen organic berries are a good choice. Especially if you were planning to freeze them for smoothie packs or that you are just going to run it through the blender. This morning I had a hankering for a mixed berries smoothie and I always keep frozen organic berries in the freezer. With 4 kids in tow, you never know when you might need to whip up a smoothie or make some sherbet! Today’s smoothie features only 4 ingredients and is a great treat for anytime of the day. Enjoy!
Very Berry Smoothie Recipe
- 2 cups of frozen organic mixed berries
- 1 medium organic banana
- 1 cup of frozen organic spinach
- 1 cup of unsweetened vegan milk of your choice (almond, coconut or rice milk will work)
- Combine all the ingredients into a blender.
- Blend till the mixture is smooth.
- Serve and enjoy!
