Lean Green Overnight Oats

Review, Giveaway and Recipe for Lean Green Overnight Oats

I want to thank Good Karma Foods for sponsoring this post. They will be helping me to support our Gluten Free and Dairy Free Community! As you all know, one of my children is allergic to dairy (all forms), soy, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts and a few other allergens.  This means there are not many variations of milk, yogurt or probiotic we can have. So when Good Karma Foods asked me to collaborate with them and put together some recipes… It was like a dream come true. Why? Their products happen to be gluten free, dairy free, nut free, soy free, egg free and no weird food coloring… sounds familiar? That’s right Good Karma Foods’ top 8 allergen friendly products matches up with my kiddo’s allergies perfectly! What is more is that they are non-GMO and they have a strong allergen control process. Each of their producers is certified by a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) compliant audit company.  It was a big point for me that they are supportive of the Gluten Free and Allergy Community.

As I mentioned before, it’s hard to find a yogurt that is dairy free, nut free or soy free.
There are a few coconut brands but it’s crazy expensive (try $3-$5) for a tiny 1 serving good-karma-stuffcontainer… ouch!  The Good Karma’s Dairy Free Drinkable Yogurt ranges from $3.99 to $4.49 per 32-ounce bottle. Plus, we have a  (COUPON For $1.50 off) for any of their yummy products!  This makes it very affordable for us gluten free/allergy free families. I looked at the label and it shows 5-6g of plant-based protein with live and active cultures. The most important question is does it taste good?  I mean the protein comes from peas, so does it have the grit that comes with most products made from peas.  I can honestly say, this product is smooth, creamy and delicious. It was not gritty at all, this is perfect for my kids who can sense pea protein a mile away!

Good Karma’s Dairy Free Drinkable Yogurt comes in 4 different flavors: Plain, Strawberry, Blueberry, and Good Greens & Pineapple.  Out of the 4 flavors, I love the Plain flavor.  This is because the Plain flavor is the lowest in sugar (8g per serving) and I love how the flavor is neutral. The neutral flavor is great for me to add to my favorite dishes without shifting the flavors. The kids naturally leaned towards the fruit flavored. These are delicious but higher in sugar than the plain flavor (19-20g per serving…healthy probiotic bacteria loves sugar). My 4 kids were a split decision…2 like the Strawberry and the other 2 like the Good Green & Pineapple. I am not surprised by this, since they happen to love strawberries and pineapples. Which one do you think you would want to try?  I can get mine at the local Whole Foods or supermarket (Stop & Shop).  Here’s how you can find yours… LOCATOR.

Remember, this is a drinkable yogurt.  This means you can have it straight or mix it into a smoothie or your favorite breakfast.  With spring training coming about for the kids, I wanted to start prepping some easy healthy breakfasts. We made some Lean Green Overnight Oats!  This overnight oatmeal happens to be packed with extra greens, protein and scented with fresh pineapples. Yum!

Lean Green Overnight Oats Recipe

Ingredient:lean Green Overnight Oats.JPG

  • 1/4 cup of certified gluten free rolled oats (I am going to be a stickler on the oats
being certified GF because I do not take a chance on cross contamination on grains.)
  • 1 TBS chia seeds
  • 1 cup of Good Karma’s “Plain” OR “Good Greens and Pineapple” Dairy Free Drinkable Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of organic frozen spinach
  • 1/2 cup of fresh (or frozen) pineapple (if you use frozen, make sure its semi-thawed)
  • 1/2 cup of Good Karma’s Flaxmilk + Protein

Directions:

  • Get your favorite air tight container…I like my mason jars!
  • In the air tight container add the gluten free oats, the chia seed and the Good Karma’s Dairy Free Drinkable Yogurt .
  • Combine all the ingredients in your container till there are no clumps.
  • Let this mixture sit in the fridge as you are preparing the next step.
  • In a blender, combine the spinach, pineapples and Good Karma’s Flaxmilk + Protein (I picked this particular flax milk because I like that it has a whopping 8g of protein.)
  • Make sure you blend this mixture as smooth as possible.
  • Once your “green” mixture is made, take out your oatmeal mixture from the fridge.
  • Top the oatmeal mixture with your “green” mixture and you now have your Lean Green Overnight Oats!
  • Make sure you seal tight and keep in the back of your fridge.
