Roasted Black Sesame Smoothie
This weekend, our whole family went to see the new live action version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The film is beautifully done and there was nothing for us to worry about. I have kids that are 7- 13 yrs old and they all love it. Emma Watson brought new life to an already well loved character. There were a few added songs and a back story to Belle’s mom and Beast’s parents but nothing that took away from the original animation. Overall, the whole family had a great time.
There was one question my kids kept on asking and it was “What is the grey stuff?” They can’t imagine anything with a grey hue to be “delicious”. There were many theories in the house that evening on what the “grey stuff’ was. It ranged from fermented meat to roots of a plant. It was actually an interesting evening. When it was my turn to come up with a theory, I decided to get up and take out the blender. I have wanted to make this for a while and also wanted to know if it would give me the lovely grey hue I was hoping for. As the kids were eating their gluten free noodles…they stared at their mom working some kitchen magic. Once the blender stopped I poured them each a glass of a grey smoothie. My oldest shouted “Black sesame smoothie! Mama, it’s just like the Japanese black sesame ice cream I like!” The younger one was hesitant thinking its ice cream but I comforted her that its completely dairy free. Before you knew it, the kids were slurping away on their “grey stuff” and yes, it was delicious!

This looks interesting!!! I love making smoothies, and this looks interesting!! I love that it doesn’t include milk as well. My son loves smoothies. He literally pulls the blender out every morning. I’ll have to try making this for him.
